What is the reading ability for the midwives in your training programs?
In general, the traditional birth attendants we train are illiterate. There may be 1 participant out of 25 that knows how to read and write. We expect that this will change as the younger generation takes over the role of midwife within the villages. Girls today are encouraged to go to school, and they are staying in school longer than their predecessors did. O Happy Day!
