Father Jerry Hagen serves as priest for the Wisconsin parish cluster of St. Therese of Lisieux, St. John the Baptist, and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic churches. St. Therese of Lisieux parish was able to furnish a significant contribution to the construction of the clinic building. Fr. Jerry has led five high school youth groups to Nuevo Edén, Guatemala for social justice immersion missions. Students do volunteer work on the building and its furnishings and get to know their peers in the village. He writes, “I enjoy watching the interactions that take place between our kids and the kids of the village. Even though language is a barrier, somehow the human touch is able to overcome it. There are lots of smiles and mutual goodwill that get exchanged over and over again.” Because of his commitment to social justice, Fr. Jerry has remained steadfast in his vision of a better life for all who suffer from the injustice of poverty.
