Antonio Gomez
Antonio Gomez is an invaluable member of the Casa Colibrà team. He has established a warm and trusting relationship with people in virtually all the villages in the municipio of Barillas, and he helps us communicate with them. An indigenous Maya, he is extremely capable and can do anything required of him. Tony drives to the outlying villages and brings people to the clinic in the back of his truck during medical mission trips. He also delivers items such as books, school supplies, water filters, propane tanks, medical equipment, medicines, and building materials to the various villages where our projects take place. Once, when the clinic ran out of water, he went to a neighboring village and transported thousands of gallons of water back to the clinic to refill its reservoir. He cheerfully serves as Q’anjob’al translator when called upon and acts as liaison between the villagers and Casa Colibrà staff. He is a jack-of-all-trades and master of all!
