Christine Wilson
Christine is a dynamic, tireless woman with energy to spare. Born and raised in Guatemala, she graduated from a university in the United States. She speaks both Spanish and English with no accent whatsoever. The first time she came to work with us on a medical/dental mission, we put her to work as the translator for our English-speaking dentist. It was evident immediately that she was going to do much more than interpret. Christine not only helped our dentist communicate with his patients, but she held their trembling hands, soothed their fears, and taught them how to avoid infection by taking their antibiotics and keeping their mouths clean. Christine is a big promoter of clean water. She brought a ceramic water filter along with her for use at the clinic and taught our permanent clinic staffer how to use and maintain it. He, in turn, taught the villagers of Nuevo Edén how to do the same, because with the help of Christine and her husband, Phil, we were able to deliver Ecofiltros to each of the 26 households in the village. Mrs. Wilson has also been an invaluable asset to Casa Colibrí in the planning of its Guatemalan Golf Outing and Fund Raiser.
