Ueli Liechti
President
Ueli Liechti was born and raised in Switzerland and immigrated to Canada in 1973. He lives with his wife, Carlotta, in Squamish, BC where they raised their three daughters. Ueli is a mason by trade and has run his own construction business since 1975. He became interested in working in Guatemala through Rotary International. From the moment Ueli crossed paths with the indigenous people of northwest Guatemala, he was impressed by their strength and ability to carry on, despite great challenges. They have been able to rebuild their lives after a long and brutal civil war, and Ueli was moved to commit himself to helping improve the lives of the indigenous people through education and health care. His vision for Casa Colibrà is to operate the medical clinic indefinitely, in cooperation with the local health authorities.
